I appreciate the history info, diesel, troubleshooting and turbo failure sections; but while I know lots of folks are building big engines and need big turbos, I was hoping to find more info on smaller engine application yes I know the principles are same but I don't build V6's or V8's. Most of the turbocharger specs in the book are for bigger turbos than I'm interested in and that turns me off as I have to go find more info on-line for the turbos I'd be using.
It'd be nice to have a book run through examples for a small, medium, and large engine, or even a snowmobile or motorcycle to show the different challenges that may be encountered. Overall, I found the information useful and will certainly be picking it up now and again for formulas and reference use. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. I bought this book to learn more about turbos.
I have definitely done that and then some. I thought I knew what I needed to build a turbo project I've been thinking about, but I need to start from scratch on that project now.

If you already understand turbo delta P, choke, and compressor maps, you won't get as much out of this as I did. However, if you aren't familiar with those terms and you are thinking about a turbo in your future, read this first. Very informative and goes indepth on every part of the turbo you've wondered about. Also gives you the thought process and formulas needed to evaluate what your needs are for a turbo and how to match the best one for your engine.
Definitely recommend this book to anyone that wants to understand what the various specs of a turbo mean and wants to learn to match a turbo to their car on their own.
One person found this helpful. This provided a lot of examples of real world applications, equations, and guidelines for turbo selection as well as the anatomy of turbochargers. The book is dated with stuff pertaining to or and earlier. It also has dynos for many turbos and maps their optimal CFM and has troubleshooting in the back. This is it, if you are looking for answers regarding which Turbo to use.
Look no more. Not bad It does have Holset maps which no other turbo book has Shipping took along time. I got all basic information I was looking for. Excellent foundation if you want to know your Turbo or rebuilding you turbo engine First chapters are bit boring, to much history, but second part of the book is excellent.
